A spicy Solution Designer
How he combines his passion for hot sauces with his job at Bystronic.
Jean-Paul Peronace has caused a global stirr with his fiery chilli hot sauces. One of the highlights of his career was winning the gold medal at the 2017 World Hot Sauce Awards in the USA. The successful entrepreneur was recently in front of the camera of renowned director Reto Caduff. In this short film, he gives insights into how he combines his passion for hot sauces with his job at Bystronic.
Focus on the customer
“Assbuster” and ‘Painapple’ - these names sound like chart-breakers from the hip-hop scene, but they are actually the fiery creations of Jean-Paul Peronace. His success story began in the kitchen of football club G.S. Italgrenchen in Switzerland, where he developed his first hot sauces. What followed is like a fairy tale: his creations catapulted him into the top international league of hot sauce makers. At the 2017 World Championships in Louisiana, he put his skills to the test and competed against established major producers.
What began as a small idea in a sports club has now spread far and wide. Jean-Paul sells most of his products online, but some gourmet stores now stock his products. And special editions, which he produces exclusively in cooperation with top chefs and gourmet restaurants, are becoming increasingly popular.
Own laboratory
In his spare time, the king of the world's hottest sauces can be found in his new mini-laboratory. Here, on just a few square meters, he creates his fiery realm that delights connoisseurs worldwide. A brand new, automatic labeling machine gives the small bottles their cool design. The magic happens in the large mixing bowl: he carefully stirs the sauces with a huge wooden ladle. It goes without saying that everything here complies with food laws and the highest standards - to the complete satisfaction of the food inspector who has already paid a visit.
This picture is somewhat reminiscent of the great tech entrepreneurs who all started out in a garage. Now Jean-Paul is standing in the basement of his house in his custom-made Japanese sneakers, smiling mischievously. His story is similar to the great success stories, but the sauce king remains down-to-earth. He appreciates his manageable empire and the opportunity to live out his passion on a small scale.
Solutions at the highest level
As a Solution Design Engineer, Jean-Paul and his team develop innovative solutions for the sheet metal processing industry.
“My passion to develop new customer solutions is also reflected in the creation of my sauce recipes,”
he explains. He spends most of his free time in his laboratory.
“Both passions have a lot in common: The focus is on innovation and creativity, as well as on putting the customer at the center. It takes a bird's eye view to consider all elements and needs.
My job at Bystronic is more challenging, but both activities require project management skills and team spirit!”
